Championship of the Creeds
- Description
- Curriculum
This Lenten season, encounter the story of how orthodox Christianity triumphed through the Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Early Church. Using the metaphor of seven rounds of a tournament bracket, we’ll look at how these Councils and the Creeds they produced each defeated a different heresy and sharpened an increasingly clear description of the faith found in the Bible. Moreover, we’ll see why these theological reflections still matter today as we confront the opponents and distortions of the faith that echo these ancient heresies again and again.
Led by Dr. Steve Blakemore, Professor of Christian Thought, this six-session course is for pastors, lay leaders, Bible study teachers, new believers—anyone who wants to grow in their understanding of the faith. Participate live via Zoom on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Central from Feb. 24 through Mar. 31, 2026, or watch recorded lectures on your own schedule.
